Acer unveiled three new Android tablets in CES 2012: the Iconia Tab A200, A510, and A700. We know that the other Iconia Tab series have been released since last year. There are the Iconia Tab A100 and A500. What’s the difference among those devices? Which one the best?

Acer Tablets Comparison

Acer Iconia Tab A100 vs A500 vs A200 vs A510 vs A700

Display

All of new Acer tablets shown up in CES 2012 come with 10 inch display. Compared to previous version of 10 inch Iconia Tab (A500), it’s just the Iconia Tab A700 which has a better display’s resolution (1920×1200). And it’s amazingly the highest 10 inch tablet’s display resolution to date.

Processor, RAM, Storage Memory

Almost all of Acer tablets are powered by NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core 1 GHz processor which was the best till the end of 2011. But a new era has already begun with the presence of the Iconia A700 and A510 bringing quad-core 1.3 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor.

All of those tablets is equipped with 1 GB of RAM (except the A100: 512 MB) and internal storage memory around 8, 16, and 32 GB.

OS and Camera

As for the OS, all of the newcomers run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), whilst the elders run the Honeycomb. There’s also no improvement in the case of camera. All of them are packed with 5 MP of rear camera and 2 MP one in the front.

The Best: Acer Iconia Tab A700 or A510?

The comparison above shows quite clearly that the Acer Iconia Tab A700 is the best Acer tablet in CES 2012. Unfortunately, it seems that Acer is not certain whether they will actually release the A700 by saying that it’s just a technology demo. If that’s so, the Iconia Tab A510 will take over the place. Just wait and see! – best Acer tablet CES 2012

Ainol Novo 7 Elf: Review, Specs, Features, Price, and Comparison

January 16th, 2012 by Cipta BG | No Comments | Filed in Ainol Novo, Under $200

Ainol releases another cheap 7 inch Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich this January: the Novo 7 Elf. This is after releasing the first tablet running the ICS a few months before. Here we’re going to take a look closer at the Ainol Novo7 Elf’s specs and features with a brief comparison to the previous version of the Novo7 and some other affordable tablets.

Ainol Novo 7 Elf’s Specs and Features

The Ainol Novo 7 Elf comes with 7 inch Multi-touch IPS Capacitive Touchscreen (1024 X 600p), 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB Flash Memory (expandable up to 16 GB via micro SD card), Allwinner A10 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor, 1.3 MP camera, Wi-Fi, and complete ports (micro USB, micro TF card, HDMI out, 3.5mm jack), and 3800 mAh Li-Ion battery.

This tablet is sized at 0.47 inch of thickness and weighs 12 oz. And as I’ve said earlier, it runs the last version of Android OS: Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0).

Ainol Novo 7 Elf in Comparison

Ainol Novo 7 Elf vs Novo 7

Comparing between the Novo7 Elf and the previous Novo 7, the first thing I noticed was the price. The Novo7 Elf ($190.99) is priced more expensively than the Novo 7 ($136.54). It certainly means that the Elf has considerable advantages. Those are its 7 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen (1024x600p), 1 GB of RAM, and 1.2 GHz Cortex A8 processor, whilst the Novo 7 is only equipped with LCD capacitive touchscreen (800×480), 512 MB of RAM, and 1 GHz Ingenic JZ4770. However, the Novo 7 also has some superiorities in comparison to the Elf, such as its 2 MP rear-facing camera, 4000 mAh battery, and 32 GB microSD card support.

Ainol Novo 7 Elf vs Coby Kyros MID7127 vs Archos Arnova 7 G2

Commonly, 7 inch tablets in under $200 class come with resistive screen. But the Novo 7 and the Novo 7 Elf are different to them. Both have capacitive screen. There are also some tablets in this class which do so. I chose two of them: the Coby Kyros MID7127 ($164.99) and the Archos Arnova 7 G2 ($157.99).

It seems clearly that the Novo 7 Elf is the most expensive among those three. It’s quite reasonable since the Novo 7 Elf wins at all different points of those tablets: display resolution, RAM, internal storage, except the battery.

Wrap Up

I think the Ainol Novo 7 Elf is the best 7 inch tablet in under $200 class to date. In my previous note on the Novo 7, I’ve pointed out that the Novo 7 is the best in $150 class. There’s no contradiction between both statements. In the other hand, as the alternative, the Coby Kyros MID7127 and the Archos Arnova 7 G2 are generally on par with them. In addition, there’s still another pretty strong competitor: the Kindle Fire ($199.00). Ainol NOVO 7: First Tablet to Run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

January 10th, 2012 by Cipta BG | No Comments | Filed in Ainol Novo

The Ainol Novo 7 is the first tablet running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It’s interesting since the Novo 7 is not a top class device. Indeed, it’s a really cheap tablet with quite rich features for its class. If you’re looking for the best 7 inch tablet under $150 to date, the Ainol Novo 7 is the answer.

Ainol Novo 7: the Best 7 Inch Tablet Priced for under $150

It’s not an exaggeration. The Ainol Novo 7 comes with the best features of the tablets in under $150 class: LCD capacitive touchscreen (800×480), 512 MB of RAM, 1 GHz processor, 0.5 inch of thickness, 13 oz of weight, 0.3 MP front-facing camera, complete ports including HDMI out port, and 4000 mAh battery. Moreover, the Novo 7 beats the other tablets in this class for its 8 GB internal storage memory (expandable up to 32 GB), 2 MP rear-facing camera, and—of course, the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Ainol Novo 7 and the Other Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Tablets

The Ainol Novo 7 is not only tablet with Android 4.0 ICS today. Currently, several tablets are officially confirmed to run this OS. Those include Asus Transformer Prime, Lenovo IdeaTab S2, and Acer. Certainly, the Novo 7 is not on par with them. But in the other side, don’t expect them to be priced under $150 like the Novo 7.
